Faith, Trust, and a Little Pixie Dust: Peter and the Starcatchers

Peter and the Starcatchers by Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson is the story about how the orphan boy Peter becomes the well-known Peter Pan.

Peter, along with other lost boys, are forced into the service of a terrible king in a far-off land. As they board a ship, The Neverland, Peter soon discovers mysterious things: a glowing box, floating rats, and a young girl, Molly, who has the strange ability to talk to dolphins. Peter gets roped into the world of the Starcatchers and their quest to retrieve the starstuff before it lands in the wrong hands. Along the way, they are thwarted by Slank, first mate of the Neverland, along with a pirate by the name of Black Stash, and eventually find themselves on an island. This novel is filled with magic, adventure, humor, and above all, starstuff!

The novel truly comes alive with the narration done by Jim Dale (the Harry Potter series, The Night Circus). Dale’s narration style appeals to all ages and feels almost like a radio play, with his wide array of voices and accents. His voices create strong and engaging characters that enhance Barry’s witty dialogue and Pearson’s exemplary world building.

Music to My Ears

Or books in this case! I am a huge fan of audiobooks, having listened to them over my family's numerous road trips and now as I transit around Vancouver. I hope to share some of my favorite audiobooks
